Old video of Algeria circulated claiming to be a video of Iran’s attack on Israel

On February 28, the United States and Israel carried out attacks in various places in Iran, including the capital Tehran. In response to this incident, Iran launched retaliatory missile attacks on US bases in the Middle East. Since then, attacks and counter-attacks have been ongoing between the two sides. In this context, a video titled ‘Iranian drone attack across the skies of Israel, Israelis are crying in fear’ has been circulated on social media.

Fact Check
The Rumor Scanner team’s investigation reveals that the circulated video is not related to any attack by Iran on Israel. In fact, the video was created by editing footage from a celebration held on the occasion of the 103rd anniversary of an Algerian club in 2024.
While investigating the footage using reverse image search, a video published on August 9, 2024, was found on a YouTube channel named Abd Ellah Arabdji.
Reviewing the video, it can be seen that the circulated footage matches this video. Translating the title of the video into English reveals that it shows supporters of the Algerian football team Mouloudia Club d’Alger celebrating the 103rd anniversary of the club’s founding.

Subsequently, through keyword searches, another video of the same event was found on the YouTube channel of the Algerian media AL24news – قناة الجزائر الدولية. In that video as well, similar to the circulated footage, citywide fireworks can be seen during the celebration.
Therefore, the video circulated with the claim of showing Iran’s attack on Israel is actually an old video of a different incident in Algeria, which is false.
