Fact-check
The Rumor Scanner team’s investigation found that the person detained in the guise of a sadhu in Gopalganj, India, seen in the video, is not Bangladeshi. In fact, the person is a resident of Bihar, India.
At the start of the investigation, Google Maps showed that the video was recorded in the Kuchaikote area of Gopalganj district, Bihar.
Later, a press release published on the Gopalganj Police’s X (formerly Twitter) account on December 15, 2025, regarding the discussed video was found. According to the press release, there is no evidence of any criminal activity against the individuals shown in the video. Gopalganj Police had detained the person for Aadhaar card verification. The individual is a resident of Kushinagar district in Uttar Pradesh.
In other words, the person in the video is not Bangladeshi.
Therefore, a resident of Bihar, India, in the guise of a sadhu has been circulated with the claim of being Bangladeshi, which is false.
