AI-generated video circulated claiming to be a Bangladeshi Hindu girl’s plea to Indians

Following the incident in Bhaluka, Mymensingh, where a Hindu garment worker named Dipu Chandra Das was reportedly beaten and burned to death by a mob over allegations of religious defamation, discussions began both domestically and abroad. Subsequently, various campaigns regarding this issue were seen in Indian media and social media. In continuation of this, a video claiming to show the cry of a Hindu girl from Bangladesh recently spread on social media from several Bangladeshi and Indian accounts.
In the circulated video, a girl is heard saying while crying: “Indian brothers, I am speaking from Bangladesh. A boy is telling me, ‘You marry me, I will look after everything for you, I will keep you safe.’ But brother, I am very afraid.”

Fact-check
The Rumor Scanner team’s investigation shows that the video circulated claiming to be a Bangladeshi Hindu girl’s plea to Indians is not real. In fact, it has been created using Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology.
In the investigation of the video, it was not found in any media or other reliable sources. Even no information was found regarding this. However, the video was found being circulated on an Indian Facebook page named ‘All Time Happy’ on December 24.

Upon reviewing the page, several similar videos were found being circulated on the page at different times. In each video, people of different ages and children are seen crying and talking about allegations of communal violence in Bangladesh and Pakistan. Almost every video has AI-related inconsistencies.

Similarly, some AI-related inconsistencies are noticeable in the video circulated with the discussed claim. The tears of the young woman seen in the video look somewhat unrealistic. Even her speech lacks consistency.
Subsequently, to confirm if the video was built with the help of artificial intelligence, the video was tested on the AI content detection platform Hive Detect, which showed that there is a 91.9 percent probability of it being created with AI.

Therefore, an AI-generated video has been circulated as a real scene of a Bangladeshi Hindu girl crying for help from Indians, which is completely false.
