Fact Check
The Rumor Scanner team’s investigation reveals that the claim that Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari has received bail is not correct. In reality, he is still in prison, and the next date for the hearing of his case has been set for February 26.
Investigating this matter, a keyword search led to a report published on February 18 on the website of the online news media Bdnews24, from which it is known that Chinmoy Krishna Das was produced virtually at the hearing that day.
Chinmoy Das’s lawyer Apurba Bhattacharya told Bdnews, “We have appealed to the High Court seeking the exemption of Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari from the charges in this case. The application has been on the High Court’s cause list for hearing since yesterday (Tuesday).
“Therefore, we prayed for time at the hearing today and did not cross-examine. The court granted the time application.”
No information regarding Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari getting bail was found in this report.
Besides, if bail were granted to a discussed personality like Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari, news regarding this would be broadcast with importance in the country’s media. However, no news or information supporting the discussed claim was found in the media or any relevant reliable source.
Chinmoy Das’s lawyer Apurba Bhattacharya told Rumor Scanner, “Bail has not been granted. Now confusion is being spread with old posts. There are five cases against him. The hearing will be held next Thursday.”
Therefore, the information circulated claiming that Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari has been granted bail is false.
