Fake comment circulated in Trump’s name regarding a meeting with Iran on the pretext of eating Nihari

To bring an end to the recent conflict between Iran-Israel and the United States, discussions were held between delegates of the US and Iran in Islamabad, Pakistan, on April 11. US Vice President JD Vance was also present at the discussion. Following this, a claim recently circulated on social media and in the media that Donald Trump stated in a post on Truth Social regarding the next peace talks with Iran, that since returning from his Pakistan trip, US Vice President JD Vance has been constantly praising beef nihari and chote paya. In Trump’s words: “Ever since Vance returned from Pakistan, he has been talking non-stop about nihari and paya. So, giving diplomacy and discussions another chance over a meal of nihari and paya wouldn’t be a bad idea at all. Yes, I will join this time too!”

Fact-Check
An investigation by the Rumor Scanner team reveals that Donald Trump did not make any such discussed post regarding Pakistan’s beef nihari and paya. In reality, an edited image claiming to be a post by Donald Trump spread on social media, which news media later assumed to be real and published as news.
While investigating the origin of the discussed claim, a screenshot claiming to be Donald Trump’s social media post was found. The alleged screenshot shows Donald Trump writing, “Ever since Vance returned from Pakistan, he has been constantly talking about beef nihari and chote paya. So, giving diplomacy and discussions another chance over a meal of nihari and paya is not a bad idea at all. Yes, I will join this time too!” (Translated)
Further investigation observing Trump’s Truth Social account found no such post. Additionally, searching with relevant keywords yielded no reliable evidence supporting such claims in mainstream international media.
Furthermore, during the investigation, netizens were seen mentioning Grok AI in the comments of various X posts regarding the discussed claim, asking for verification. In response to these posts, Grok was seen replying, “No, this is not true. It is a fake meme edit of a Trump tweet, which is part of the viral meme storm (and all the jokes about nihari/paya) centered around JD Vance’s recent trip to Pakistan. Trump posted nothing of the sort—there is no mention of this on his real account. Pure internet humor!” (Translated). For context, Grok is a generative AI chatbot created by Elon Musk’s company xAI. It assists with various inquiries, including fact-checking news.
By analyzing the above evidence, it is confirmed that Donald Trump did not make any such post. In reality, a fake image/screenshot created as a claim of Donald Trump’s post was circulated as genuine.
Therefore, the claim that Trump announced via a post that he wants to hold a meeting with Iran on the pretext of eating nihari is false.
