Fact Check

Rumor Scanner Team’s investigation reveals that Professor Mia Golam Parwar, Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, did not make any such comment, nor did Barta Bazar publish any photocard with the alleged statement. In fact, the viral photocard was created by digitally editing a different photocard originally published by Barta Bazar featuring Mia Golam Parwar.

Upon examining the viral photocard during the investigation, it was observed to include the logo of the online news outlet Barta Bazar and the publication date of October 20, 2025.

Following this information, no such photocard or news report was found on Barta Bazar’s Facebook page or website. However, a different photocard was found on the media outlet’s Facebook page published on October 20 with the headline: “Hindu means not Nouka (Boat), Hindu means Daripalla (Scale): Golam Parwar”.

Reviewing this authentic photocard revealed similarities in the image and graphical design with the viral photocard. However, the viral photocard features the sentence ‘আগামী নির্বাচনে হিন্দুরা জামাতকে ভোট না দিলে এদেশে থাকতে দেয়া হবেনা গোলাম পরওয়ার’ (Hindus will not be allowed to stay in the country if they do not vote for Jamaat in the upcoming election – Golam Parwar) instead of the correct phrase: ‘হিন্দু মানেই নৌকা নয়, হিন্দু মানেই দাঁড়িপাল্লা: গোলাম পরোয়ার’ (Hindu means not Nouka (Boat), Hindu means Daripalla (Scale): Golam Parwar).

Thus, the viral photocard was created by digitally editing the original Barta Bazar photocard.

A news report found in the comments section of the original photocard post reveals that Professor Mia Golam Parwar, Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, stated: ‘There is a misconception that Hindu means Awami League and Nouka. This time, Hindus will show that Hindu means not Nouka, Hindu means Daripalla. If the Hindus of Tala and Kalaroa vote for Daripalla, they will be safe from past rule, Insha’Allah‘. He made these comments on October 20 at a student-youth rally held in Tala, Satkhira.

However, no information regarding the viral claim was found in this report or other media sources.

Therefore, the photocard circulated in Barta Bazar’s name, claiming that Professor Mia Golam Parwar, Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, commented ‘Hindus will not be allowed to stay in the country if they do not vote for Jamaat in the upcoming election,’ is edited and fake.
