Old video of a different incident circulated claiming to show Israeli soldiers fleeing from Iran’s attack

On January 28, the United States and Israel carried out attacks in various places in Iran, including the capital Tehran. In response to this incident, Iran launched retaliatory missile attacks on US bases in the Middle East. A video has been circulated on social media claiming to show a scene of Israeli soldiers fleeing in fear due to the said attack.

Fact Check

The Rumor Scanner team’s investigation reveals that the discussed video is not of the ongoing conflict between Iran and Israel. In reality, the video is from the Lebanon-Israel conflict in October 2024. It is known that the video is of Israeli soldiers fleeing during an attack by Lebanon at that time. Which is currently being circulated with the discussed claim.

Investigating the discussed video, the same video was seen being broadcast on October 26, 2024, on the YouTube channel of the Turkey-based media outlet Ulusal Kanal. From the title of the video, it is known that when Israeli soldiers entered Lebanon at that time, they fled due to Hezbollah’s counterattack. The discussed video was captured at that moment.

The video was also seen being broadcast on the Facebook page of another Turkey-based media outlet, Sabah, at that time. The same information regarding the video is obtained from the said post.

Subsequently, investigating this matter, it is known that on October 1, 2024, Israel launched a ground offensive in Lebanon. Prior to this, the country also launched airstrikes on Hezbollah targets, in which Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah was killed. In this context, information is also found that several Israeli soldiers were killed in Hezbollah’s retaliatory attack at that time. From which it is confirmed that the discussed video is from the old Lebanon-Israel conflict.

Therefore, an old video of the Lebanon-Israel conflict has been circulated with the claim of being a video of Israeli soldiers fleeing due to Iran’s attack in the ongoing Iran-Israel conflict; which is misleading.
