Fact-check

The Rumor Scanner team’s investigation found that the youth killed in the Moghbazar cocktail explosion was not Christian. In fact, the deceased’s name is Siam, who was a Muslim and an employee of an establishment named Zahid Car Decoration in Moghbazar.

At the beginning of the investigation into this matter, a video published on December 24 on Somoy TV’s YouTube channel was found. Reviewing the video, it was learned that the cocktail explosion occurred near the AG Church in Moghbazar at around 8:00 PM on December 24. According to eyewitness accounts, the death happened when a cocktail was thrown from the Moghbazar flyover.

Additionally, another report published on the same date, December 24, was found on The Daily Star’s website regarding the discussed issue. This report also identified the deceased youth as Siam Mazumder. Furthermore, the statement of the deceased’s father, Ali Akbar Mazumder, was also included.

Therefore, it can be stated with certainty that the person killed in the Moghbazar cocktail explosion was not Christian.

Thus, the claim that the Muslim youth killed in the explosion in the capital’s Moghbazar was Christian is completely false.
