AI photo falsely claims Modi holds Bangladesh Victory Day message

Recently, a photo of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi holding a placard has been circulated on social media. The placard in Narendra Modi’s hand reads, “Greetings to everyone on the Great Victory Day of December 16th. Bangladesh became independent in 1971 under the leadership of Sheikh Mujib. The people of Bengal will never forget this contribution of Sheikh Mujibur. Congratulations to everyone from India.”

Fact-check

Rumor Scanner’s investigation found that the photo of Narendra Modi holding a congratulatory greeting on behalf of India for Bangladesh’s Victory Day is not real. In fact, the image in question was created using Artificial Intelligence (AI).

If Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi had offered congratulations for the 54th Victory Day of Bangladesh by holding such a photo, it would naturally have been widely reported in both Indian and Bangladeshi media. However, an investigation found no such information in the media of either country.

Furthermore, no such post was found on Narendra Modi’s social media handles (Facebook, Instagram, X).

Additionally, the image was verified using several AI detection tools, which indicated a high probability that the photo was generated by Artificial Intelligence.

That is to say, the circulated photo is not real.

Therefore, an AI-generated image is being circulated as a greeting from Narendra Modi on the occasion of the 54th Victory Day of Bangladesh; the claim is completely false.
