Fact Check

The Rumor Scanner team’s investigation reveals that the discussed video is not a scene of a house catching fire in Israel due to an Iranian attack. In reality, this is a video recorded during a house fire incident in Galloway Township, USA, on February 08. Besides, no reliable information was found to support the claim of the death of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s brother, Iddo Netanyahu.

Initially, the Rumor Scanner team investigated the claim of Netanyahu’s brother’s death. Searching media and other reliable sources using relevant keywords regarding this matter, no information was found to support the discussed claim. Even no such information was published by Iran or Israel.

Subsequently, the Rumor Scanner team investigated the video circulated with the discussed claim. During the investigation, a video broadcast on February 09 from a Facebook page named hcbphotography was found. The discussed video matches the said video.

The post stated, “Right now: An incident is occurring at 10:47 PM in the Park Place area of Galloway Township, New Jersey.”

Multiple other posts (1, 2) regarding the said incident are found from the same page. They also contain information providing updates on the said fire.

Furthermore, it is known from media sources that a house fire incident occurred in Galloway Township, USA, on February 08. However, no casualties occurred there.

It is worth noting that the conflict between Israel-US and Iran started on February 28. In contrast, the video is of an incident from about 20 days before the conflict started.

Therefore, an old video of a fire that occurred in New Jersey, USA, is being circulated claiming to be a scene of Netanyahu’s brother’s house catching fire in an Iranian missile attack; which is completely false.
